Are you ready for GDPR ?
In May 2018, the Data Protection Act is being replaced by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) This new standard for data protection gives increased responsibility to all of us, to ensure we have the necessary processes, documents, systems and training in place to protect the personal data we process.
- The requirements are detailed and specific, and the penalties for non-compliance are severe.
- Every church and charity, as well as businesses, are affected.
- Electoral Rolls, membership lists, pastoral records, accounting records and all other forms of personal data you hold are included.
CTAL is glad to offer a day conference on making sure we are prepared in time for GDPR. This is designed for churches and charities, especially those with limited resources for administration etc.
See details overleaf.
Our speaker will be Nick Swain BSc. MInstF(dip). MFINZ of Zorva Consulting. Nick will both introduce you to GDPR and what you need to do, but also to help you get started. After the introductory session, Nick will run workshops on key topics so that you will begin preparations on the day which you can take away and continue, as you prepare for GDPR. Nick will also signpost a wide range of resources, and other places you can get help.
Nick’s passion is to help charities and organisations gain more impact by refining their operations and developing the most effective use of technology, and for the last year he has been primarily occupied in helping Not For Profit organisations get ready to demonstrate compliance with the GDPR regulations that come into full force in May 2018.
Nick is an experienced strategic, technology and fundraising consultant who works exclusively in the Not For Profit sector, and is accredited as an EU GDPR Practitioner (an internationally recognised qualification for those tasked with building, implementing and maintaining GDPR compliance programmes, and fulfilling the role of a Data Protection Officer) and by the Institute of Fundraising.
He designed and runs the ‘Getting ready for GDPR’ programme, which helps organisations that do not need a full time Data Protection Officer, to demonstrate their GDPR compliance. In addition, he takes on roles as interim DPO and speaks at various events to raise awareness of GDPR across the sector, including events at Global Connections and the IoF Fundraisers in Christian Organisations.
