An ecumenical link between the Anglican Diocese of Lincoln and the Catholic Diocese of Brugge (also known as Bruges) was established in 1979, and two years later the Catholic Diocese of Nottingham became the third party to that link.
Close dialogue takes place between the three Dioceses, and there are regular meetings and exchanges between bishops, priests, choirs, catechists, pastoral workers, parish councils, professors and seminarians, social groups, youth organisations and schools. These are steps on the long way to friendship and unity.
The Link aims to be a meeting-place for those not only from Lincoln, Brugge and Nottingham, but also for Christians from other churches and for all who want to build bridges to connect with one another. The Link wants to be a sign of hope and an invitation for friendship between the faithful from different churches, between countries and peoples. The Link wants to be a place of reflection and prayer on the way to unity.

Since 1990 Churches Together in
All Lincolnshire has been linked,
through prayer, mission and
exchange visits, with the
Tirunelveli diocese of the Church
of South India. Tirunelveli is in
Tamil Nadu on the south-eastern
tip of India. In the 18th and 19th centuries it was evangelised by the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel (SPG) and the Church Missionary Society (CMS).
The Church of South India was formed in 1947 when Anglican, Methodist and Reformed Churches joined together. Today it has 22 dioceses and 3.8 million members worldwide.
Tirunelveli was the most populous diocese, covering a huge geographical area, and was bifurcated in 2003. The diocese now comprising the former eastern parts is called Tuticorin-Nazareth (Thoothukudi-Nazareth), and we have been able to develop links with the two dioceses in recent years.
The Bishop in Tirunelveli is Rt Rev JJ Christudoss (since 8/2009) and in Tuticorin-Nazareth the Bishop is Rt Rev Dr JAD Jebachandran (since 4/2006). The ministry of both dioceses includes the provision of schools, colleges, clinics and hospitals.
